Representation: represent the needs of the relevant business. Invest time in understanding their needs and being their advocate to tech development team. Be seen as their partner, involve them in the decision making process and be proactive about notifying them of the result of this process.

Feature definition: develop a clear idea of the business requirements for projects, developing a Business Requirement Document that details these, and talking them through with the PM and Dev teams to get an understanding of potential solutions that these needs could be met.

Prioritization: driving consensus within the group about tradeoffs, and making recommendations for resource allocation on that basis.

Work with other planners in the planning organization to identify cross-functional projects and make a company wide prioritized project list.
